Opening routine

  1. Two-person entry; alarm disarmed by key holder.
  2. Safety walk: exits clear, floors dry, lighting working.
  3. Tills opened with a counted float, recorded on the float sheet.
  4. Priority replenishment and price label check before doors open.

POS basics

  • Log in with your own ID only. Never share your password or leave a till logged in.
  • Scan every item; do not key in prices manually without supervisor approval.
  • Voids, refunds and price overrides require supervisor authorisation.
  • Offer the receipt on every transaction.

Cash handling controls

  • Count change back to the customer.
  • Check large notes with the counterfeit detector.
  • Request a cash pick-up when the drawer exceeds the limit.
  • Variances at end of shift are recorded and signed by cashier and supervisor.

Inventory awareness

  • Rotate stock: first expired, first out.
  • Report damaged or expired stock; never discard it without recording.
  • Check delivery quantities against the delivery note before signing.

Closing routine

  1. Final customer check and doors locked by key holder.
  2. Tills counted, reconciled and cash secured in the safe.
  3. Store recovery: face up, clean, waste removed.
  4. Two-person exit; alarm set.
